Working with the sharp eye of an artist and a delicate touch, Dr. Vories carefully creates a natural-looking hairline for you.
Transfollic Technique®
Follicular Unit Transplantation or micrografting is the highest standard of hair restoration surgery available today. This is the only procedure that provides permanent results, as well as the only procedure utilized at Carolina Hair Surgery.
Dr. Vories invested years researching and observing every aspect of procedures practiced by the most respected hair restoration surgeons in the world. How are follicles best harvested? Is there a better way to implant hairs? Every method was analyzed. By combining his hard-won insights with advanced medical technology, follicular unit grafting was identified as the best choice for permanent, natural results. What makes this protocol better and more reliable than others is the fact that it greatly reduces follicle transection, promotes better healing, limits scarring and prevents the “pluggy” look of procedures done many years ago. The outcome of this procedure is the only permanent and natural-looking solution for hair loss.
The Consultation
All consultations at Carolina Hair Surgery are complimentary and under no obligation. Consults consist of a detailed medical history and a thorough scalp examination with a Folliscope, an instrument that allows Dr. Vories to analyze your hair density, caliber, and your likely hair loss pattern over time.
During your consultation, you will learn all about the hair transplant process, including associated risks, and you will be told the kind of realistic results you can expect in the months following surgery.
Once all the data is gathered, Dr. Vories will provide you with documentation that summarizes your hair transplant design and the estimated timeline for any procedures. He will show you photos of hair transplants he has performed on patients with similar hair and scalp characteristics, so that you can assess the potential benefits of hair restoration in your case.
Carolina Hair Surgery will be happy to provide you with the names and phone numbers of many patients, so that you can ask them about their transplant experiences and results.
If you decide that the procedure is for you, Dr. Vories' staff will keep an accurate record of your results by taking “before” and “after” photos of your head and scalp from several angles, using the same lighting and background on each occasion in our photo lab with Mirror imaging system.
The Cost
The price of the procedure relates directly to how many grafts are needed in any specific area. This is a personal decision that needs to be made during your consultation with Dr. Vories. The areas of coverage can include some or all of the hairline, midscalp, and / or the crown. The actual cost is based on a sliding scale with a maximum price of five dollars per graft. Our minimum case starts at $4000 (under 1000 grafts, 2300 hair follicles) and goes up to $19,000 (over 5000 grafts, 11,500 hair follicles) for a mutiple day session. Hair follicle counts can differ per individual so we use the accepted industry average of 2.3 * hairs per graft to determine these numbers, however your actual hair density can only be determined at the time of surgery.
Financing is available from GE / Care Credit and Chase Health Advance with no interest payment plans ranging from 12 to 24 months as well as extended payment plans up to 60 months. Each plan offers a variety of payment options, no hidden charges or fees, and no prepayment penalties. All financing is based solely on an individuals own credit history. All programs are voluntary, confidential, and under no obligation. For more information regarding these plans please contact the practice adminstrator.
The Procedure
Performed on an outpatient basis, under a local anesthetic, follicular unit micrografting will cause you minimal discomfort. You will be awake and alert. During the procedure you can see a movie, or listen to music, and in some patients even use the time to catch up on sleep.
Dr. Vories is assisted by a dedicated surgical assistant team with many years of hair restoration experience. He begins by removing tissue from a small donor area at the back of the head.
As follicles are carefully separated (using the slivering method) from the donor area under magnification, by use of state of the art Mantis stereo microscopes, the doctor immediately begins transferring them to bald or thinning areas. Working with the touch of an artist, Dr. Vories creates your new hairline. Upon completion of the hairline, other bald or thinning areas are filled in using a random pattern that replicates the natural growth of your hair.
Based on realistic expectations and the areas that need the coverage, between 1000 follicles (400 grafts) and 5000 follicles (over 2000 grafts) can be transferred. The average procedure day takes four to six hours to complete. Afterwards you'll be given simple post-op instructions. Most patients walk out without a bandage. Both the donor and recipient areas will be healed in less than two weeks, after which you can resume any type of physical work or exercise.
Once the transplanted hair grows in, you can cut color and style it any way you like. It's your hair, so treat it that way. Dr. Vories assures all patients that hair growth will occur. His goal is to give you, our patient, superior service and uncompromised quality in a caring, professional environment.
